Challenging Challenges

I have made a few cards the last few days for the Weekly Inkling Challenges and they have been very challenging for me. Nothing seems to translate onto paper exactly as I see it in my head. But I'm trying. Some I sort of like and others I don't like too much. Here are a few of the latest tries.

This card was for the Technique Lovers Challenge #290

This card is for the Clean & Simple #84

This one is for the Free 4 All #34

Mixed Felines

I got to make one card tonight for the Teapot Tuesday challenge. I don't know why my darn job takes up all my days.
The card is for Bertie who is moving from Texas to CA. Her two kitties have mixed felines about moving. They will take a little piece of TX with them eventhough they are ready for new adventures.

Talented Card Club Ladies

These are the projects of the other ladies in my card club. I just love the Candy Corn tin.

Liz made all of us a test tube and Rhaonda made these little boxes that are a cat. There is a decent sized box for goodies hiding behind his body.

And again, Carolyn came up with a very cute and roomy box for goodies. I love the little metal clip to open and close the box with.

The reason I've been away

We took our Oldest Daughter and family to Sea World in San Antonio

We had a great time at all the shows and really enjoyed our day. Eventhough Lucy is only 2 and a half she did really well with keeping up all day. She was so thrilled to see all the animals. But she admits she was a little afraid of feeding the dolphins. She would only throw the fish in the water for them, not put it in their mouth. Her favorite thing was "when the Otter took the man's hat".

October Card club was last week. This is the eyeball(cakeball) I made for my project. There are several other cute, cute projects. I'll post those as well. My eyeball took so long to make that I sort of ran out of time in making the box and things to put it in. I had envisioned more than this, but it turned out OK. I put the trim around the top of the box all the way around on all the others. This was the first draft. I cut the box on the Cricut at 5-1/2" (cupcake box on Sweet Treats) and made the clear lid for it with an acrylic sheet.

This is a card I made for my hubby for his birthday. The coloring looks a lot better in person. The picture has made it look very dark and streaky.

Well I tried to get a new template for my blog, but no success. It was all supposed to be easy, but it didn't work. So back to the drawing board.
And as for the squirrels, They did finally eat the corn. I'm afraid maybe something else liked it as well. We have had two new holes being dug in the yard. One under the hedge, where something had dug before and one under the fence. So it looks like it's time to set the trap again. I think it may be an Armadillo.

Going up to make a card now so maybe I'll post it later.

Hope you can cling to

Here's the card I made for the Card Drive

Yesterday was International Card Making Day. I intended to play along with the challenges, but was not at home all day long. In looking at things today though I saw a card drive in which I wanted to participate. It's called Hope You Can Cling To and will benefit MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Heart to Heart Card Drive

I made this card for Carolyn King's card drive called Heart to Heart. She organized this drive two years ago in honor of her Grandmother who suffered from Alzheimers and passed away in 2008. The idea behind the drive is to raise awareness of this terrible disease and to help brighten the day of those who care for Alzheimer patients each day. We all know how important these caregivers are for the families of the patients. If you would like to learn more go to Carolyn's (aka Cammie) blog at: http://myblogbycammie.blogspot.com/2010/09/heart-to-heart-card-drive.html. There are some wonderful blog candy prizes in conjunction with the Card Drive. You can see the details of those on her blog as well.

Card Club Treats

I thought since the cards etc I got from card club were so cute I would show you the lot of them, minus one cause I already gave it away (sorry Liz).
So here is what I received from the talented ladies in my group.

This great coffin was made by Kay (the person responsible for my obsessions with SU)

This little treat is a Halloween s'mores kit. Didn't Angie do a cute goodie!

Dee made such a cute card with her owl. Wish I could make it turn straight

And Carolyn made us another cute card with her witch and cat.

Labor Day Tour

We took a trip to Wisconsin to visit family and we had a great day on Labor day riding the back roads in a model T. Ron & Kathy had their model A (with only 2 seats) so they got us a ride with a friend in his T. It was a lot of fun

This was our ride! Open air and all.

Ron & Kathy's car & I can't remember who has the yellow one below.

On another note, We brought back some corn stalks from our trip so I could use them for Fall decorations. They still had some corn on them so I put out an ear for the squirrels. It's been out there for a week and they haven't touched it. I can't believe it. Maybe they know that corn fattened squirrels make good dumpling companions. Or maybe they just have too many acorns and can't be bothered with corn!

Got Treats?

I made this gift card holder for my card club. Think I'll send a gift card to Whataburger in it to my grandaughters. Or maybe one for somewhere they can buy candy! It was fun to use up some of the older Halloween paper that is retired from Stampin Up.
Can't get this picture to turn the right direction so I guess you'll have to tilt your head.

Making Up Time!

OK to make up for not posting anything for so ling, I will post twice today. I made birth announcements for my new little grandson. so thought I would share a pic of them. I even worked on them while driving (no - I mean riding)to our vacation destination. It was nice to have something to do since the scenery hasn't changed much since the last time we made that drive. Here are a couple of pictures of the cute little announcement and the cuter little guy.

Has it really been nearly a year!

I can't believe it's been nearly a year since I posted anything on here. I guess I have been busier than I thought (Or is it just more unorganized than I thought?) Guess the two job thing did take up a lot of my time from April into July. I am going to try my best to post something at least every week or two, but can't promise anything, because life keeps changing. I think that is a good thing!?
Here is a scrapbook page I finished a couple of weeks ago. I still get a big smile when I think about that day. We had so much fun!
